A little about me
Aloha!
I’m Lizzy and I am a trained birth doula, yoga teacher and registered nurse. I view fertility, birth and postpartum as woman centered and a sacred portal and right of passage for the whole family. It is a powerful, raw and holy and transformative journey that must be treated with the utmost respect and reverence.
I trust in physiologic birth, and can also can provide support to women who need more interventions. I am there to care for and empower mothers physically, emotionally, spiritually and logistically in the prenatal, birth and postpartum period.
I realized my passion for birth work after spending 12 years dissatisfied as a registered nurse working in the ICU. I care deeply about the planet and all of her creations. I see all of the humanitarian crises happening and strongly desire to work to the heal root causes of our collective suffering. After lot of research and soul searching I came to the crystal clear realization that I absolutely must be a birth worker. I didn’t know in what capacity, so I started with an Embodied Birth doula training, read a lot of books, about birth, and attended my first birth as a doula. I changed specialties in the hospital and trained as a postpartum/mother baby nurse. I learned valuable skills about caring for the postpartum family. It is all so fascinating!
I have recently become a mother myself! In July of 2024 I gave birth to my baby girl at home and it was the most radical thing I have ever experienced. I am eternally grateful for all of the nourishment I received from my partner, birth team and community. It truly takes a village.
Human beings are meant to be the caretakers of the world. We must uplift and nourish the mamas and papas so that the children of the earth grow up to be holistically healthy and capable of caring for the New Earth we are building. It starts with birth.
